Vocab Trainer

Vocab Trainer is the current project I am working on. When I was in school in the Netherlands I had to learn French and German. In order to study the words they gave us, there were all kinds of programs where you could add word lists and then study the words in a gamified way.

In the image on the right, you can see the main game screen. On the left side is the current word you have to translate, including a box to give your answer in. On the right side, you see the previous question (Q), what answer you gave (G), what the actual answer was (A), and how well you know this word through the use of levels (L). The higher the level of a word, the less frequent it will appear relative to the other words.

The words and answers you can learn need to be manually added using an Excel form, and are therefore fully customizable. The exact input requirements will be explained later.

Initially, I am working on making the program work for learning Japanese words, but I am planning to extend this to other languages, and provide tutorials on how to do this yourself. I will continue working on this soon, after I have released the demo of Hieroglyph Quest and finished the first version of this website.
